I’m currently preparing for 3 weeks of hardcore piping!
Next week I’m off to Brittany (northwestern France) to play with a Bagad band. A Bagad is the Breton equivalent to our pipe band. I’m looking forward to guesting and performing with them in Brest at the National Championship. I’m driving across with 2 piping pals who are also playing with the band and we plan on stopping in Amsterdam for a few days on the way back 🙂 Let’s hope we all make it…
After being at home in Glasgow for 1 day I fly out to Brüggen (western Germany) to teach at a school as a National Piping Centre instructor. I taught here last year and can’t wait to see everyone again. It’s an intense week of teaching, playing and socialising! Here’s a pic from last year of myself and wee student having a tune:
The other tutors from Scotland then fly home on the Sunday but I catch the train to Hamburg for a Visit Scotland press event. I’ve been asked to go as a Scottish ambassador to promote Homecoming Scotland 2014. I’ll be talking to about 30 journalists about the Scottish piping tradition, I’ll play a few tunes and teach them a few notes on the chanter too.
I’ll be ready to collapse after all that.
